SENIORS | Katie, Class of 2015

I met Katie back a few years when I photographed the E.C. Glass High School cheerleaders!  Katie was on the school cheerleading squad as well as some of my other seniors you may know (Taylor & Quintora!).  Katie and her family recently moved back to Bluefield, West Virginia and I was excited when they contacted me about being Katie’s senior portrait photographer!  I was absolutely honored that they would travel all the way from West Virginia back to Lynchburg (that’s a three hour drive people!).

Having the fall season featured in her portraits, was really important so I scoured the Lynchburg area for the best fall colors.  Fall leaves and color can be hit or miss in Lynchburg from week to week during that season.  Old City Cemetery has gorgeous color in the confederate section because of old growth oak trees and so after walking the downtown area on Jefferson Street we headed over that way.  Katie and her mom were just awesome to work with!  Katie’s mom, Tina, helped me out by holding the reflector and adjusting Katie’s hair and outfits when needed.

It’s important to have a balance between timeless and trendy looks included in your outfits.  You want to look back and see YOU and how awesome your images were.  We don’t want them to scream, “That was so 2014!” I loved Katie’s first outfit of the day!  A black sheath dress with pearls and black heels – timeless, classy, with a bit of sass! Katie’s second selection was more trendy with a tan leather jacket and chunky boots!  It was a great mixture of classic and trendy to have a variety of images to choose from.  We even mixed it up by taking the jacket off for a couple of shots!

I am working in full time photographer specializing in seniors and weddings and I have been working to achieve a lot of new goals for 2015.  One of those is for my first full year model team, which I am currently accepting applications from Class of 2016 seniors until February 21st!  In addition, I decided to extend an offer to a few 2015  seniors to represent Jae Studios for the remainder of their senior year! Katie will be my representative at Bluefield High School in West Virginia!

What are your favorite bands/music? : Anything except country or bluegrass

What school activities, hobbies, or extracurricular activities are you involved with? : Cheerleading, eating, socializing

How would you describe your personal style? : I have a style of my own and I march to the beat of my own drum. While I love fashion, I like to wear what I like w/out influence from the “norm”.
