Did you know that I love a church wedding? I also love a wedding that takes place in a city or incorporates urban vibes!!

This October wedding I second shot with Anna Bowser Photography, meets both of those criteria!

Not sure what “second shooting” refers to? Check out this blog post here to learn more about it!

Nick and Maria’s wedding day was full of family and fun!

We started off at the gorgeous Hotel Roanoke for Maria to get ready. She, her bridesmaids, and her mother all got their final touches done in a corner suite with opposing windows overlooking the city.

We met up with Nick, the groom in the elegant courtyard behind the hotel. That’s where we set up Nick & Maria for their first look and a few portraits before heading into some family and bridal party images!

Nick is a police officer for the city of Roanoke so we had to incorporate his police cruiser and career into a few shots!

The street right next to Hotel Roanoke led visually to the Wells Fargo tower in the distance – a staple in the Roanoke city skyline.

They joined in marriage at their church Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox in a ceremony full of meaningful traditions. I really loved when they bound the couple together with white delicate crowns. They are placed on their heads and bound together by one ribbon that trails down and connects them to one another. You could just tell how excited Maria and Nick where to be man and wife as they walked back down the aisle afterwards!

We stole a few more moments of the couple together before they entered the reception while the guests trickled into the church hall below the sanctuary. It was my kind of reception – full of food, family, friends, and lots of fun! Moving toasts to the couple were shared and they danced the night away!

Creative night shots are a must for me and I set up an image using the architecture of the church walkway and created a smoky backdrop to highlight them!

Congratulations Nick & Maria!
